Alain J.P. Belda is based in São Paulo, joined Warburg Pincus in 2009, leads the firm’s investment efforts in Latin America and provides strategic counsel across the firm’s portfolio. Mr. Belda also is a member of the firm’s executive management group. He retired from Alcoa in 2009, after serving as president and chief executive officer from 1999 and chief executive officer and chairman from 2001. Mr. Belda spent four decades at Alcoa having first joined the organization’s Brazilian affiliate, Alcoa Aluminio in 1969. He is a director of Banco Indusval & Partners, International Business Machines, Omega Energia Renovavel S.A. and Renault S.A.
