Encore (Ft. Worth, Texas) is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company pursuing an acquisition and exploitation strategy in the onshore continental United States. Encore's strategy is to purchase proven, long-lived and predictable reserves where management believes there is an opportunity to enhance performance through improved reservoir engineering, increased attention to operations, and low risk capital expenditures. Jon Brumley, who has had a long and successful career, founded the company in 1998 with an equity financing led by Warburg Pincus. In 1999, the company acquired the Cedar Creek Anticline assets which established Encore as the largest oil and gas producer in the state of Montana. Encore has also acquired assets in Texas and Oklahoma to create additional core areas. Encore became a public company in 2001. Today, the company has more than 173 MMBoe of proven reserves. The management team continues to look for new acquisition and exploitation opportunities that fit Encore's business model.
