In 1987, Warburg Pincus was the lead investor supporting Jacek Makowski to form the J. Makowski Company (JMC). JMC was formed to develop, own and operate independent electric power generating facilities primarily in the northeastern United States. JMC also developed natural gas projects and provided consulting services. From 1987 through 1994, the company executed on its growth strategy and developed several projects throughtout the northeastern U.S. In August 1994, JMC was acquired by Bechtel Enterprises and PG&E in a successful transaction for investors and management.
