Rib-X Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a structure-based drug design company developing next generation antibiotics against drug resistant bacteria. In 2003, Warburg Pincus led Rib-X’s $63.5 million Series B round of private financing with a $31 million investment. The Company was founded in 2000 around a scientific breakthrough pioneered by Yale University, the three-dimensional structure of a key antibiotic target, the ribosome. Using the proprietary high-resolution crystal structure of the ribosome, Rib-X’s discovery engine allows the visualization and prioritization of potential therapeutic antibiotic compounds. Rib-X can rationally design new drugs enabling breakthrough discoveries in an area where traditional drug discovery methods have not been productive over the last thirty years.
