Level One Communications provides silicon connectivity, local area network switching, and wide area network access solutions for telecom and networking applications. In 1987, Warburg Pincus invested $11 million in Level One when it was a pre-revenue early stage startup. We backed Bob Pepper, formerly of RCA’s Solid State Division, to create a leading IC company for hi-speed communication over copper. In 1995, the company went public and two years later it was bought by Intel for $2.7 billion.
