Oxford Glycosciences, located in Oxford, United Kingdom and founded around technology developed at Oxford University's Glycobiology Institute in 1988, was a leader in the development of both the systems needed for carbohydrate analysis and the assays required for measuring the biological activity of carbohydrate molecules and their receptors. Warburg Pincus provided early stage financing in 1995. OGS completed an initial public offering in April 1998. Warburg Pincus exited its position in 2000.
