Renaissance Communications ('RenCom') is a company formed in 1989 by Warburg Pincus and Michael Finkelstein, an experienced television executive, to acquire and operate independent television stations. During the period of Warburg Pincus' investment, RenCom grew to own six television stations in the top 50 markets in the United States and was a significant owner of Fox television stations. RenCom became a public company in February 1994 and was acquired by Tribune Company in March 1997.
