U.S. HealthCare was one of the first conversions of a non-profit HMO to a for-profit HMO and grew to become one of the largest health maintenance organizations in the United States. Warburg Pincus provided the initial venture capital financing in 1981. USHC became a public company in 1983. Warburg Pincus distributed its holdings in 1984.
