OpenVision Technologies was formed by management and Warburg Pincus in 1991, to develop, market and support systems management software for client/server computing environments. The company had its IPO in 1996, and was merged with Veritas in 1997. Warburg Pincus distributed its Veritas shares to its limited partners during 1998 and 1999.
