Warburg Pincus was a principal financial partner to Christiaens and its predecessor company, Centrafarm Group N.V., from 1983 through 1992. During that time, the company was transformed completely from a domestic Dutch manufacturer, parallel importer and wholesaler of primarily unbranded ethical pharmaceutical products into a fully integrated, Benelux-based multinational pharmaceutical company with branded ethical and over-the-counter product lines. Centrafarm became a public company in 1985, was taken private in a sale to Christiaens in 1988, and was sold to Hafslund Nycomed in 1992.
