In 1992, Warburg Pincus led the acquisition of CN Biosciences, a developer, manufacturer and distributor of a broad range of life sciences reagents and specialty chemicals. Through catalogues, CN Biosciences markets its products to life sciences researchers in the academic, industrial and government research markets, as well as to the pharmaceutical industry, in over 48 countries worldwide. The company completed its IPO in 1996 and was acquired by Merck KGaA Darmstadt in 1998.
