In 1990, Warburg Pincus invested in Ribosepharm, a German-based novel pharmaceutical and drug delivery product marketing company specialized in the rapidly growing oncology field. Ribosepharm distributed a number of anticancer drugs used in chemotherapy to leading hospitals and pharmaceutical wholesalers throughout Germany. In addition, the company sponsored research and clinical trials involving new drug combinations for a variety of cancer indications. Ribosepharm was sold to Medeva plc in 1993.
