PowerWind GmbH is a wind turbine generator manufacturer headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. The company’s primary product is the PowerWind 56, a state-of-the-art wind turbine generator rated at a nominal capacity of 900 kW. The company designed the PowerWind 56 to specific size and operating parameters that meet the requirements of emerging wind power markets such as Eastern Europe, Northern Africa, and Italy. In October 2008, Warburg Pincus acquired the company from Conergy AG, a publicly-listed German renewable energy company.
