In 2003, Warburg Pincus invested $18 million in a $25 million financing of Bacchus Vascular. The company, based in Santa Clara, California, is focused on the development of the Trellis, a novel catheter-based medical device for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis, or DVT. Bacchus Vascular’s device improves on today’s conservative standard of care by providing rapid, safe and cost-effective DVT removal and symptom resolution while dramatically lowering the chances for clot recurrence. The company was founded in 1999 by Thomas J. Fogarty, M.D., an internationally acclaimed inventor of innovative medical devices. Concurrent with Warburg Pincus’ investment, Gary Burbach, former C.E.O. of Philips Nuclear Medicine, joined the company as C.E.O. |
