Ceres, Inc. is a Thousand Oaks, California-based agricultural biotechnology company that develops renewable bioenergy feedstocks such as sweet sorghum, high-biomass sorghum, switchgrass and miscanthus. The company markets its proprietary seeds under the "Blade" brand name. Ceres also pursues the commercialization of genetic traits potentially applicable to traditional row crops. Dr. Richard Hamilton, a former Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School, has led the company as President and CEO since 2002. Warburg Pincus invested in Ceres in September 2007. In February 2012, Ceres successfully completed its IPO on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange (NasdaqGM: CERE).
