Established in 2006, Broad Oak Energy, based in Dallas, Texas, is a start-up exploration and production company formed to focus on unconventional oil and gas plays in onshore regions of the United States. Warburg Pincus was the sole institutional investor in the company's initial $150 million equity financing. The company's CEO, David Braddock, and President, John Coss, both former executives of Pioneer Natural Resources, have been joined by several experienced industry professionals. Since its formation, Broad Oak Energy has built land positions and implemented drilling plans in Texas and Louisiana.
