Antero Resources LLC is a Denver, Colorado-based independent oil and gas company focused on the exploration and exploitation of unconventional natural gas resources in the United States. In its first two years of operations, Antero built one of the leading positions in the Barnett Shale in Fort Worth, Texas and in 2005, sold these assets to XTO Energy for approximately $1 billion. The management team remained with Antero Resources following this sale and continues to explore and develop properties in Appalachia with financial backing led by Warburg Pincus.
The management team is led by CEO Paul Rady and President Glen Warren, each of whom have long and distinguished track records in the oil and gas industry at organizations including Barrett Resources Corporation and Pennaco Energy. Paul and Glen are joined at Antero by many of the managers who worked alongside them previously.
Warburg Pincus led Antero’s initial equity funding in February 2003, and in 2007 led an extension and expansion to its equity funding program.
