Targa Resources Corp. is a Houston, Texas-based growth-oriented provider of midstream natural gas and natural gas liquid services. The company’s services include gas gathering, processing, treating, fractionation, storage terminaling and transportation throughout the United States to a large and diverse customer base. Today, the company consists of two publicly traded entities (Targa Resources Partners LP and Targa Resources Corp.) and represents one of the largest independent midstream energy companies in the country.
The management team is led by Executive Chairman and former CEO Rene Joyce and current CEO Joe Bob Perkins, both of whom were instrumental in building the company and have extensive industry experience.
Warburg Pincus led the company’s initial equity funding in April 2004, and invested incremental equity into Targa in 2005 to support a significant acquisition. In February 2007, the company successfully completed the IPO of Targa Resources Partners LP on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: NGLS) and in December 2010, successfully completed the IPO of Targa Resources Corp. on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: TRGP).
